Unlock Your Ability: startup winners for energy distribution

0

Unlock Your Ability is the competition that took place in Bergamo last week to identify the best projects for energy distribution.

The Startup call was launched by the collaboration between ABB and Polihub, let’s briefly see who they are:

ABB is a pioneering technology leader that is writing the future of industrial digitalization. For more than four decades, we have been at the forefront, innovating digitally connected and enabled industrial equipment and systems. Every day, we drive efficiency, safety and productivity in utilities, industry, transport and infrastructure globally. With a heritage spanning more than 130 years, ABB operates in more than 100 countries and employs around 132,000 people.

PoliHub‘s mission is to support highly innovative start-ups with scalable business models and to push cross-fertilization processes between the Academy, start-ups and well-established innovation-focused companies.

To do this, PoliHub operates through the exchange of experiences, sharing of knowledge, mutual contamination and the confrontation between entrepreneurs, putting together the enormous bag of knowledge of the Politecnico di Milano and its centers of excellence, MIP, PoliDesign and Cefriel, working with business partners.

Started in11 startup candidates, were first reduced to eight, and finally to three: the winners of Unlock Your Ability, the call organized by ABB in collaboration with Polihub and aimed at projects for digital energy management.

“The winners: BEE (Beyond Energy Efficiency), WindCity and Zaphiro,” says the voice of the advertiser with one breath. Joy and disappointment are heard on the faces of the participants, less astonished: from the presentation pitch these three startups have been impressed and curious about the validity of their projects. Sensation then confirmed by how they responded to the questions of a scrupulous jury. But what do the winners actually propose?

BEE has thought of a concrete solution to energy efficiency issues through the use of coordinated and integrated devices. The energy consumption of the user in this way is enhanced by safeguarding that energy that would otherwise be wasted.

The completely new idea presented by WindCity’s founder and CEO, Tommaso Morbiato: “A new concept of energy conversion applicable to wind and turbine turbines” WindCity has created a simple mechanism that adapts to the dynamics of nature by lengthening life and improving the performance of Tools currently available to us.

The last of the prizes is Zaphiro, which offers a real-time monitoring system for energy distribution grids, which can also intervene in case of problems.
