Sion is an electric car working on solar energy too.
The Sono Motors startup was founded in 2016 by three friends under 30 years old in Munich starting their idea in a garage: to build a car with the aim of proving that solar energy can make us independent from oil.
The process was financed by a fundraising on the internet that allowed them to collect over a thousand orders.
The body of Sion is composed of about 330 solar cells capable of collecting the energy to be made available for the batteries.
This natural diet, accordingly with Sono Motors, will guarantee energy to travel with Sion 29 km a day.
The air purification system will be entrusted to a small lichen plantation inserted into the dashboard.
At the moment, Sono Motors is directing the majority of their efforts towards the Extender model, which has 30 KWh batteries available to ensure autonomy of 250 Km theoretical.
These batteries are enabled for fast charging and allow the power grid to take energy from the car when it is connected to the column in case the current demand is high.
Another aspect to take into account for Sion is that the batteries are rented, as it is for Renault’s electric models.
Some appointments are set for the Sion test drive session in Italy
March 17/18 – Florence
March 21/22 – Genoa
24/25 March – Turin
March 27/28 – Milan
To book your own test drive you need to fill out the form on the official site of Sono Motors that you find at this address.
Sion is expected to be available next year at a price of around 16,000 euros to which 4,000 euros must be added for batteries.
On the YouTube channel of Sono Motors there is also the first episode of the travel diary for test drives throughout Europe and the presentation of Sion.
