Metal and design: a love story born in the 50s

Metal and design: a combination that starts its history in the 50s.

Its progressive transformations are now a common trend in the world of design for furniture, for example, which has had all the lights pointed at with the tradition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan.

Speaking of interior design, it is easy to understand that this is more than a trend and that the use of metal in some of the furnishings proposed at the Salone del Mobile has its roots in the use of metal by great masters of architecture and of design.

In the wake of this school, walking around the Salone Del Mobile 2018, in a city completely dedicated to design, we have been able to closely observe the future trends in metal and design thanks to two creations that have captured us particularly.

We were pleasantly surprised by the project produced by Lamberti Design, an artisan metal furniture industry, which presented FAVO for Made in Italy design.

FAVO is a project by Daniele Della Porta: a furnishing system composed of a honeycomb structure made with a steel or brass rod that lends itself to different modular compositions.

The name comes from the design: almost they were cells of a beehive with its geometric elements that are composed in infinite structures.

The metal helps wood with its elegance to give the furniture its contribution, always fundamental and now also a protagonist in design.

The made in Italy that conquered us was also that of Colos, which makes metal an unmissable value at the service of its design.

His new project is called ‘Villa’: a metal seat with steel rod and mesh in mesh. Classic lines and contemporary aesthetics signed by Jun Nasumoto who was inspired by the Parisian terraces.

The metal rod is worked together to compose the structure, thus highlighting the design of each individual part while retaining a refined sense of lightness.
