Industry 4.0, which is transforming Hong Kong into an international innovation hub, also speaks partly Italian.

NiRoTech, an electronic company co-founded by Roberto Leone, is building the first industrial line based on smart production.

Leone is Managing Director of a company that has a turnover of 24 million dollars and employs forty-two people. By establishing an agreement with a local semi-governmental body, it is working on the construction of an industrial plant with a very high degree of automation based on the integration between robots, artificial intelligence, IoT and Cloud.

This new line of Industry 4.0 will be ready for the month of October and will mark the return of manufacturing industry in Hong Kong.

“And it will be an industry 4.0 – comments Roberto Leone – that is, that automated and interconnected industry that represents the future, and that for Asia is already the present. The new line created by NiRoTech will not only increase production capacity and optimize costs, but above all will produce high-tech and superior quality finished products ».

The line develops for 40 meters with an L-shaped structure and employs a dozen autotuning robots. It makes it possible to double the production capacity compared to a traditional plant and develop six models at the same time instead of just one. Four or five people are employed in the government and in line control.

«This in Hong Kong is the first production site entirely owned by NiRoTech, 2500 square meters with a dozen people at work, and is a fundamental step to have a completely smart supply chain. This is an important investment that will allow us to grow and position ourselves in a strategic sector, “underlines Leone.

The Chinese government wants to push for the affirmation of a “Made in Hong Kong” dedicated to innovation and technology in these years in which the costs of land and buildings become prohibitive and labor is increasingly scarce.

“The key to being competitive is precisely this, to focus on smart manufacturing to create products of excellent quality and high added value – concludes Roberto Leone -. And it is a model that I think is extremely interesting also for us Europeans. In fact, if the experience with this new line in Hong Kong will be positive, I do not exclude that in the future we will be able to replicate it in other countries, including Italy »
